We specialize in the evaluation and treatment of injuries and conditions affecting the musculoskeletal and nervous systems.
FAKTR-PM
FAKTR-PM stands for "Functional And Kinetic Treatment with Rehabilitation, Provocation and Motion." It was developed to help speed recovery from chronic musculoskeletal pain syndromes and has also been shown to work extremely well on acute musculoskeletal/fascial conditions.
Chronic pain results from dysfunction of the sensorimotor system, which is manifested in soft tissue and fascia. This new treatment approach to soft tissue dysfunction combines instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization with proprioceptive techniques to reduce pain and return function.
In our clinical experience, combining manual treatment of soft tissue with proprioceptive exercises produces faster results than conventional treatment methods.
FAKTR-PM was developed by Tom Hyde DC, Greg Doerr DC, and Vince DeBono DC in 2002.
This manual treatment is provided by chiropractors, physical therapists certified athletic trainers, medical doctors, occupational therapists, podiatrists and dentists.
The Graston Technique
The Graston Technique is an innovative, patented form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that enables clinicians to effectively break down scar tissue and fascial restrictions. The Technique utilizes specially designed stainless steel instruments to specifically detect and effectively treat areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis or chronic inflammation.
The Graston Technique Instruments (GT Instruments), while enhancing the clinician's ability to detect fascial adhesions and restrictions, have been clinically proven to acheive quicker and better outcomes in treating both acute and chronic conditions, including:
- Cervical sprain/strain (whiplash, neck pain)
- Rotator Cuff injuries (shoulder pain)
- Lumbar sprain/strain (back pain)
- Patellofemoral disorders (knee pain)
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
- Achilles Tendinopathy (ankle pain)
- Plantar Fasciitis (foot pain)
- Lateral Epicondylopathy (tennis elbow)
- Medial Epicondylopathy (golfer's elbow)
- Tibial Stress Syndrome (shin splints)
- Trigger finger
- Post-surgical and traumatic scar pain

Pin and Stretch
Pin and Stretch is a style of soft tissue based massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and nerves.
When performing pin and stretch Dr. Nathanson uses his hands to evaluate the texture, tightness and movement of muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments and nerves. Abnormal tissues are treated by combining precisely directed tension with very specific patient movements.
Pin and Stretch is effective at treating injuries including:
- back and neck pain
- headaches
- knee problems
- shoulder pain
- plantar fasciitis
- tennis elbow
Exercise Rehabilitation
Balance and Coordination Training: Balance is the ability of a person to maintain equilibrium and the body in an upright postition while stationary or while moving. Balance deficits may occur due to trauma, disease, injury and aging.
With specific exercise programs and devices, it is possible to retrain the bodies ability to balance and coordinate its motions patterns from activities as simiple as getting up from a chair to complex activities involved in competitive sports.
Exercise/Rehabilitation: Rehabilitation is a constellation of physical methods/procedures primarily involving various forms of exercise to improve function after an illness or injury.
Rehabilitation is different than exercise since the goal of rehabilitation is to bring a patient to pre injury/illness baseline. At this point the patient is generally able to continue a home based program independently. Independence should be a primary goal of rehablitation.
Exercise improves general function and health and typically focuses on flexiblity, balance, coordination, strength and endurance. Exercise is expected to continue throughout the patients entire lifetime.
Taping Technique
Kinesiotaping:
The Kinesio Taping Method involves taping over and around muscles in order to assist and give support or to prevent overuse. Kinesio Tape gives the patient support while maintaining full range of motion, enabling the individual to participate in physcial activity with functional assistance. Through the way in which the tape is applied, it can facilitate, relax or inhibit muscle function. Kinesio Taping is also effective in the removal of swelling, correcting misaligned joints, and supports muscles and ligaments through their full range of motion. Kinesio Taping can be applied to injuries including:
- Any Sprain or Strain
- Postural Disorders
- Carpal Tunnel Syndroms
- Tennis/Golfer's elbow
- Knee Tracking and Tendon Disorders
- Ankle Sprains
- Rotator Cuff/Shoulder Injuries
- Reduction of Traumatic or Post-Surgical swelling
